Does Reign-Bow offer MeRT?

No. Reign-Bow Brain Treatment Center in Lombard, Illinois is no longer affiliated with Wave Neuroscience and does not offer the trademarked MeRT protocol. Its medical staff trained in MeRT, and the clinic now provides qEEG-guided TMS planned by its own team from a 19-channel brain map, with repeat maps during care. Like MeRT, TMS for autism is off-label. Reign-Bow checks insurance first and quotes any self-pay cost in writing.

What MeRT is

MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy) is a trademarked treatment protocol developed by Wave Neuroscience. It is a form of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in which the stimulation frequency is set from the person’s EEG, and it is offered by clinics licensed to use the protocol.

Reign-Bow is no longer affiliated with Wave Neuroscience and does not offer MeRT. Our medical staff trained in MeRT, and that experience shapes how carefully we read brain maps and plan stimulation today.

What we do instead

  • A 19-channel qEEG brain map first, compared with people the same age
  • A TMS plan built from that map by our own clinical team in Lombard, reviewed by our medical director
  • Progress checked every week, with a repeat brain map partway through care so you can see what changed
  • Psychotherapy under the same roof, and coordination with ABA, speech, OT and school
  • FDA-cleared MagVenture TMS equipment

Questions to ask any clinic, including us

  • Who reads the brain map and writes the plan, and can we meet them?
  • How often will you re-map, and what happens if we don’t see progress?
  • Is this use FDA-cleared, or off-label? (TMS for autism is off-label everywhere.)
  • What will the full program cost, in writing, and does insurance cover any of it?

Cost and insurance

MeRT clinics usually don’t bill insurance. At Reign-Bow we check your benefits with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna and Aetna first. TMS for depression and OCD is often covered; for autism the TMS sessions are usually self-pay, while the consultation and qEEG may be billed to your plan. We put any self-pay cost in writing before you start. See how costs compare.

Common questions

Do you offer MeRT?

No. Our medical team trained in MeRT, but Reign-Bow is no longer affiliated with Wave Neuroscience and doesn’t offer the MeRT protocol. We provide qEEG-guided TMS planned by our own clinical team.

Is qEEG-guided TMS the same as MeRT?

Not exactly. Both record brain activity first and plan TMS from it. MeRT is a specific trademarked protocol. Our plans are designed by our own team from your qEEG brain map and repeated maps during care.

Is MeRT or TMS FDA-approved for autism?

No. TMS devices are FDA-cleared for major depression and OCD, among other uses. Using TMS for autism, including MeRT, is off-label, which is legal and common but means the evidence is still developing.

Does insurance cover MeRT?

MeRT clinics generally don’t bill insurance. We verify your benefits with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna and Aetna and tell you what’s covered and what isn’t before anything is scheduled.

We did MeRT before. Can we continue care with you?

Yes, you can call us. Bring any previous brain maps and treatment records; we’ll record a new qEEG, review your history and explain what we’d recommend.

Questions about MeRT or TMS?

Call us. We’ll explain how our approach compares, check your insurance, and give you pricing in writing before anything is scheduled.
